About Dr. John Krehlik

A board-certified sleep physician also certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. John Krehlik treats people with sleep disorders throughout the state of Alaska. He earned his MD from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine before completing a medical internship at the Los Angeles County University of Southern California Medical School and an internal medicine residency at University of Washington. Dr. John Krehlik serves on the staff of Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau.

Dr. Krehlik treats a number of sleep disorders including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, insomnia, and nightmares. Of these, sleep apnea, characterized by periods when breathing temporarily stops or pauses during sleep, is the most common. Although sleep apnea is a serious condition that may lead to high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease, headaches, depression, and other serious conditions, it is treatable and often diagnosed by an at-home sleep study. An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Krehlik enjoys hiking and skiing in the Alaskan wilderness. He relaxes by road biking, mountain biking, hunting, fly-fishing, and scuba diving with his family. He has resided in Alaska since 1976, when he served as a general practitioner with the public health service Alaska Native Medical Service. He has also served as a physician for the Veterans Administration. Prior to becoming a sleep physician, Dr. John Krehlik maintained a private practice in internal medicine for more than 30 years.
